Memes

Odds are, if you clicked on this page, you know what a meme is. If not, though hard to define, I would say a meme is a culturally relevant image, video, or action that is a joke of some sorts. In high school and college, I was a bit of a memer, and would create lots of visual memes in my free time. I still dabble in the art, but am much more out of touch with today's meme culture now. Some of memes were surprisingly popular; I have showcased the popular ones (and a few of my personal favorites below.)

Harambe iFunny Meme
This is unfortunately my most popular meme, garnering 121,400 likes on iFunny (an awful meme site). It also landed me 1,500+ comments telling me to kill myself for making this meme. If you don't understand it, it references the popular "triggered" meme as well as the event that changed the world - the brutal, televised murder of Harambe.

Minecraft Meme
This is a meme I made in college and posted to r/dankmemes on Reddit (another awful meme site). It received 9,000 upvotes (Reddit's likes) and references the hit video game Minecraft.

Christmas Meme
This is a Christmas meme I made and posted again to r/dankmemes. It received 3,200 upvotes, and is a parody of the Halloween meme, "The fastest spook in the west".

Surreal Meme
This meme I posted to r/surrealmemes on Reddit and somehow got 750 upvotes from a bunch of fellow deranged lunatics. It has no meaning.

Star Wars Trolling
Twitter is another awful website. I posted this meme at the top of the new Star Wars hype - my friend Stone and I made this photoshop during the trailer for the movie The Last Jedi (a movie I hate, for the record) and posted it immediately, acting like it was a screenshot of the hated character Jar-Jar Binks (whom, for the record, I love). This made a much of die hard Star Wars fans/Twitter users very upset, as 85 people retweeted it, 165 people liked it, and thousands of people saw it (some of whom sent me very angry messages).

Christian Meme
This meme wasn't a popular one, but it was a favorite one I made. It references a scene in Thor: Ragnarok as well as Biblical themes.

90s Music Meme
This is another meme I didn't post anywhere except in my friends' groupchat. It references my exploration of 90s music (historically that was a gap in my music library) and discovering two different artists. (Here's an example of an Alanis song; here's an example of a Hootie song.)

Disaster Meme
This meme references the typical Top 10 videos on YouTube. The picture itself is of one of the funniest moments in my college career when my friend Perry got beamed with a basketball in the face.

Football Meme
This is one of my most recent memes that references how stupid my favorite football team, The Cleveland Browns are for paying $230 million guaranteed to a guy with 26 allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
