Paintings

While I had painted a few times in art class growing up, I never knew how much I truly enjoyed painting. But in 2020, my then girlfriend (now wife) re-introduced me to painting. Since then, both with her and on my own, I've painted a ton of random paintings. This page showcases a few of the paintings I've made. Also as a fun note about my art, my friend Ethan made a quality documentary about it for his capstone project (in order to graduate from college he made this) and that is below:
Also, as a disclaimer, the documentary is purely fictional, except for the art, which is indeed my own.

My Paintings

Family
This painting is how close I want my future family to be. This painting was painted with such emotion and love as I love monkeys (especially golden snub-nosed monkeys).

Bliss
This painting was a very serene landscape that I dreamt of one night. When I awoke, I knew I must paint it. It's definitely not a crude rendition of the Windows XP background.

"Nugs"poleon
This is a portrait of my parents' dog Koa, whom we call "Nugs." It is a take on the classic portrait of Napoleon.

Safe and Legal Thrill
I made this painting to promote one of my favorite activities: throwing car batteries into the ocean. Not many people know this but it's 100% safe and perfectly legal; it helps recharge the electric eels too. Don't let AutoZone propaganda tell you otherwise.

True Art
This was an abstract painting I made out of the depths of my soul. I definitely was not inspired by any crude tv shows like "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" or anything like that. Don't you dare call this art "BS" or "derivative".

Self-Portrait
This is a self portrait that I made. It really captures how I felt growing up in Arlen, TX, hanging out in the alley where my dad and his three friends from high school would hang out and drink beer all day. My father never really understood me, as he wanted me to play football while I just wanted to do prop-comedy. This painting captures all of those emotions.

Welcoming Painting
I painted this as decoration for my apartment. It's a picture of 4 generic, welcoming fellas. The kind of fellas that would sing songs about Buddy Holly.

A Sunset to Remember
I don't remember where I was or when I saw this sunset, but I took a picture of it and decided to paint that picture later.

Physical Perfection
This is the face of the ideal male (Jeff Cavaliere). You may not like what it looks like, but you'll have to get over it as this is what peak perfection looks like.

Rules of this House
I made this painting for my friend's girlfriend.

The Paste
This is a painting I made commemorating the release of my book. It shows a scene about 2/3 of the way through the book (one of my personal favorite scenes).

Sanic
This was my first attempt at realism, as I tried to create a realistic version of the hit video game (and now movie) character Sonic the Hedgehog.

Goodness
This was a painting I made of an illustration my pastor in college showed me back in 2017 that's stuck with me. The top (golden) arrow represents my understanding of God's goodness over time. The bottom (black) arrow represents my understanding of my own goodness over time. But as the gap widens, the gap is still filled no matter how far apart the two arrows are by the cross. It represents how God's grace is infinite and can reach you no matter how bad you think you are.

Apartment Art
My wife wanted us to have some "adult" (as in mature, not as in suggestive) decorations for our apartment, so I drew and painted this. I'm not a huge fan of the orange color (and will probably repaint this at some point) but otherwise I think it's good decoration.

Untitled Sadness
I painted this when I found out I was potentially exposed to covid and had to cancel the visit of my girlfriend. In hindsight, this was a pretty dramatic and weird response to a minor inconvenience but hey at least I got this art out of it.

The Staff Job, Double the Money
I painted this when I brought my boss pictures of Spiderman and demanded he give me a promotion.

Home (2020)
This painting shows the skyline of OKC; Dayton, OH (if you flip it upside down); Tipp City, OH (with the orange background); and Norman, OK (with the purple background), representing where I lived.

cornn flaek
A friend asked me to paint her something for her art wall, and I decided to paint the weirdest thing I could think of in the moment.

The Tick
This is a painting I made of my favorite TV show ever (The Tick (the 1990s animated show, not the 2000s live action one or the gritty Amazon 2010s reboot)).

Filth
This is another Tick reference painting that I gave to my dad as a gift.

Piano Man Montage
This is a painting I made combining all of Billy Joel's 13 studio albums together. Each square represents that section of the album cover. I am a bit of a Billy Joel fan, if you couldn't tell.

It's Not My _________
This is a painting I made with an anti-selfishness message. I realized I was struggling (and still do) with the idea of "it's my ___, therefore I deserve/I can do x, y, or z" which is just not true. Nothing I have is truly my own, and when you start living your life with that mindset it changes everything.

The Waning Gibbous Poster
This was a movie poster I painted commemorating the release of my first full length feature film, The Curse of the Waning Gibbous.

Christmas on the Edge
I made this painting to escape the brown and gray hell that is Norman, OK, to envision a better Christmas season there.

Rules of the Gym
I think this one speaks for itself. These are the rules of my home gym.

Bryce
This is a painting I made of my athletic friend Bryce (from Colorado).

Paxton
This is a painting I made of my musically talented friend Paxton (from Kansas).

Tib
This is a painting I made of my creative friend Tim (from Philly).

Family
This is a painting I made of my immediate family (from Ohio).

Lakeview Manor
This is my dream home. It sits above a peaceful lake and is a place for my wife and two kids to be protected by my steward while I go off to practice my shouts, run the college I'm in charge of, and kill draugrs while looting nordic tombs.

If you got this far, thanks for taking the time to look at my art. Most of these pieces have been sold already but I still have some pieces if you are interested in spicing up your home decoration. If you would like to commission a piece of artwork, I also do those and you can contact me to find out more about that.
